This is what I wrote in my very first blog post, June 2011:
As a jewelry artist, my designs are influenced by nature and the aspects of my daily life. The journeys I have taken, places I have visited, and the colors and texture of the landscape all inspire my creativity. It is a creative world, the one I live in. Through this blog, you will find insight into the thoughts and inspirations that influence my creativity. It is a fun, artistic, colorful, sometimes comical and always adventurous place to be! Welcome.
Through blogging, I have had the opportunity to connect with other creative types;
to learn, share and be inspired by one another.
A few of the amazingly talented artists who inspire me!
Some of the essential tools that I keep close by are inspiring references such as books and magazines. I also always have a note book to jot down ideas and a sketch book with colored pencils to help bring those ideas to life! So to share a little of my creative process, I am giving away a large sketch book, a set of Crayola colored pencils, a notebook that will be personalized with your initial along with the Fall issue of Jewelry Stringing magazine (one of my favorite resources for inspiration).
If you would like to win, leave a comment telling me how you document the moments and ideas that inspire you. You also must be a follower to be eligible to win. The winner will be chosen Wednesday morning, October 3rd.
Congratulations on your success!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 100+ followers! Glad I found your blog to follow :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I so know what you mean, and I was thrilled that I knew all the ladies in the pic by face, even though I haven't had the opportunity to meet them in person. (Hoping to change that next year). I've been in learning mode, and feel like I'm just beginning to think like a 'designer'. Because now I find myself doodling ideas, writing down types of beads that would work with it, etc. So a special notebook would have great meaning for me right now. Thanks for the cool giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCongrats. I am now following as well. I try to either pin things, or email them to myself if something inspires me. If there is no tangible picture, etc, I will just email myself a quick note. I really should find a book or something to keep it all together and sort through when I am feeling the block.
ReplyDeleteI like to take pictures of things that inspire me. :)

Congratulations Miss Kathleen! It has been fun to be on this creative journey alongside you! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteIn the past I've snapped a picture of things that inspire me, but lately I've been using pinterest to log my favorites. I also make a sketch of complicated jewelry designs before I begin. This helps me plan the phases of design construction. Thanks for the generous giveaway.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

Congrats on 100! I can't imagine how that feels, I just know I was thrilled when I got to over a dozen. I tend to sketch things when an idea strikes, unfortunately they often end up on whatever is handy where I happen to be, napkins, receipts, a corner of paper ripped from something on my bedside table. From there these scraps of paper end up on a corner of my beading table, I know it's a very sad system, lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on now having over 100 followers.
I have dog eared pages in magazines and little torn paper strips to mark patterns and pieces that inspire me. I email websites to myself and I write down items that I would like to have in the future, but is it rare that I will draw out an idea unless it is something that I really want to remember.

Congratulations on 100!!
ReplyDeleteI like to take read many blogs, pictures, pull pages out of magazines, draw out ideas & they go into different notebooks. The inspiration is never-ending ........
Congratulations on your 100! I have enjoyed following you and felt like I was part of your most recent journeys of photography and beading. You are a very talented and creative artist. I think following someone that inspires you makes a big difference in your own creative designs. I still have, on my desk, one of your pics of a crane, and the words..."Each day is a new adventure". That is so true, young or old, each day is a new adventure, we only need to "Seize the Day", each day.
ReplyDeletecongrats to u kathy..u have always been creative inside n out..u r a gr8 inspiration to everyone..love ya!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a well-deserved blogging milestone. I love to see a post by you pop up in my reader! I have a tray on my bead table with tearsheets of inspiring photos, stories, scraps of fabric...colors, shapes and textures that serve as creative prompts. I'm in the middle of an online design class, and have just decided that I need to start sketching out my designs in detail before I pick up that first bead. Was going to venture out and find a journal this week....maybe I'll wait until Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you! I love spending (way too much) time looking through magazines and browsing through blogs and pinterest for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS, Kathleen!!! What a huge milestone in such a short time. Thanks for taking us back to your early inspiration for starting your blog. What has struck me is all the good times and friendship that you have experienced over the past 2 years. It really is amazing all the people we meet online, and if we're lucky, in person as well. I've enjoyed following your blog, seeing your pretty jewelry and your photography too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, I have started sketching ides, it is really helpful.
ReplyDeleteI hope we can get together soon, since we are such close neighbors!!!
Kathleen - congratulations on your success in sharing your work and connecting with a beading community. I'm so glad we've been able to connect on Facebook. And can I just say that I love that my book is on the top of the bead pile in the first photo. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier I would have sent some peeps over your way. Happy Creating!
