Ornament Swap Blog Hop

Today is the reveal day of the Ornament Swap Blog Hop hosted by Sally Russick of Wire Worked. The idea was to create an ornament, containing at least one art bead, and then mail it to the person you were paired up with. What a fun concept-count me in! I was paired up with the ultra talented Susan Kennedy of Sue Beads. She makes gorgeous lampworked beads. I did quite the happy dance when the partner list was revealed!

This is the beautiful ornament that Sue created for me...

Looks like a tiny poinsettia!

This is the ornament that I created for Sue...

The materials I used were a cherry red ceramic bead by Elaine Ray, Chinese crystals, 
a textured aluminum square that I created and a spiral head pin. 
I created the spiral hook from silver filled wire.

Now, it is time to finish decorating my Christmas tree!

    Ooooo---to BOTH ornaments! They are both so pretty and compliment each other so well, like they were made as a set. I love how you textured the square and Sue's bead is just so festive :-)

    WOW, both ornaments are gorgeous! Kathleen, I love the pop of red and the square you textured is wonderful, I'm sure the textures in the metal along with the crystals catch the light beautifully!! I would have this ornament hanging in my studio all year long!

    I know that aluminum is going to sparkle like mad on the lit tree! Lovely ornament, And Sue's is straight off the Snow Queen's Tree with icy crystal goodness. What a great swap~

    Your ornament is really pretty - the perfect touch of red with the ceramic bead and your textured metal!
    And the ornament from Sue is gorgeous as well - I love her holiday lampwork with the addition of the long chandelier crystal - classic and dramatic at the same time!

    As well, the one you created for her is really great! I love that bit of hammered metal that gives it a bit of a shimmer. Well done!
