For week two of Sally Russick's photography challenge, she instructed us to choose our word for 2013 and create an image inspired by it. I started out with the word organize but then realized what I really need this year is focus.
A year ago at this time, I was setting up my new studio. It took me four months to do so. I then dove right in to creating jewelry for the upcoming weekly Arts Market here at Lake Anne, the Arts Festival at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, a shop in Maryland that sells my jewelry and a home show. I never really had a chance to put a focus on my jewelry business and write down a list of goals or even create a business plan. I didn't have the time.
So now that my studio is all set up, (just needs some organization as it became hectic over the holiday season)
I can start to focus on what I want to accomplish this year and how I will go about doing so.
I can start to focus on what I want to accomplish this year and how I will go about doing so.
I created my image early in the morning. A dense fog set in as the unseasonably warmer temperature started to rise. This image is a perfect example of how my life right now has aspects that are perfectly clear and others that need more visualization. All I need is focus!
What a gorgeous picture! I LOVE it!! and really demonstrates your word, and how you want to move forward in 2013!
ReplyDeleteWow .. That is a gorgeous photo. I love the fog over the river. Your word is a great one. I know you will find focus this year.
ReplyDeletea gorgeous, gorgeous photo...
ReplyDeletemay you find the time you need to focus throughout 2013.
i'm no. 21 on the list btw :o)
I'm echoing everyone else--what an absolutely gorgeous photo. And a perfect depiction of your word. And an excellent one it is, too. Sometimes things move so quickly that we need to pull back and FOCUS.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is a POSTCARD moment for sure and so aptly depicts your word! Is this Lake Anne? I have lived in Northern Virginia since the late 1970's and have never been to this part of Reston! Shame on me!
ReplyDeleteWell it took me a long time to actually read your blog because I was enjoying that gorgeous photo!! It certainly represents your word and the idea of slowing down to focus properly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo it is! The bullrushes, the boat, then the clear water, then then... fading off of the background as if a wave wanes off..
ReplyDeleteKathleen, what a beautiful picture. Focus is an excellent word.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, I recognized this angle of Lake Anne immediately. What a gorgeous place to live, with views like this! Your picture is breath-taking. I can't stop looking at it and admiring the composition and the deeper meaning. May 2013 be full of great FOCUS!
ReplyDeleteFocus was my word too... I've sort of let life/computers get in the way of creativity in the last year. I'm hoping with my todo lists that are now sitting in plan sight I will focus on my creative side! Love your picture!
ReplyDeleteYour photo is so beautiful. It is such a great representation of your word FOCUS. And such a gorgeous place. Looks like you will have a great year ahead.
ReplyDeleteSo appropriate for the photographer to choose "Focus" It resonated on so many levels. Beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteFocus is a fantastic word and your photo is really amazing. You've definitely got some skill with the camera and it shows. So inspirational!
ReplyDeleteYour photo is beautiful, and so appropriate for your word!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your photo and how it is so perfect for your word. Focus is something I need to do more of. I get distracted so easily!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and great visual...I need to work on this too!
ReplyDeleteI love this because of the ironic way it is the second in a series and goes so well with the self portrait! Half of you is in the photo / half of this scene is in fog - beautiful shot!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! I could not dream of living somewhere where I couldn't see a body of water regularly. The stillness here is incredible, and the colour - like the perfect "greige" that interior designers madly seek.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is stunning. That is wall-worthy, for sure! I had that word a few years ago and it absolutely helped. Anything that was a drag on my focus was out. You will clarify your direction so much with this word! I wish you joy in the journey in 2013. Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful photo. I find it very relaxing - something I can just put myself into. Good luck this year.
ReplyDeleteOMgosh..that is so stunning!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing photo! I love your word, thinking I could use some of that this year also. I look forward to this journey.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photograph! Focus is a great word too. Boy seems like I could use everybody's word in my life these days!!!
ReplyDeleteKathleen! You are such an AMAZING photographer! The focus even among the fog, that your view though focused may take time to become clear. Love your photo and good luck with focusing on achieving your goals in 2013!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully illustrated word for the year. I just love seeing your photos each week, gorgeous!
